Voice Care In Columbus, OH

Treatment for Voice Conditions

If you are experiencing problems with your voice, such as chronic hoarseness or laryngitis, the clinicians at Ohio ENT & Allergy Physicians are here to help. Typically, hoarseness is caused by benign conditions such as vocal abuse (singing, teaching, excessive public speaking), upper respiratory infections, GERD, LPR, and aging. Other causes are vocal cord nodules, polyps, granulomas, and cancer. Our doctors also treat conditions that affect the voice, including granuloma nodules on the vocal cords, vocal cord paralysis, and vocal cord polyps, and our voice pathologists can teach you preventative care to protect your voice.

The first line of treatment offered by our clinicians is the conservative route, which will consist of self-care to help heal your condition. For chronic hoarseness and laryngitis, self-care recommendations may include quitting smoking or avoiding secondhand smoke and noxious fumes, drinking plenty of water, not clearing the throat, and avoiding prolonged vocal use. With more serious conditions, such as vocal cord paralysis, surgical intervention may be necessary.

If you are struggling with voice-related problems, reach out to Ohio ENT & Allergy Physicians to schedule an appointment. Call 614-273-2230 or schedule online. We have eleven locations in the Greater Columbus area.
